Day 1

  • 6:30-7:40 – Music Therapy Drumming – Perspective on the Therapeutic Experience

  • 8:00-9:00 – KPAS Percussion Skills and Rhythmic Grounds: A Hands-On Experiential

Day 2

  • 8:30-8:45 – Warm up: KPAS, Rhythmic Grounds: Bass Drums, Body Percussion and 
Movement
  • 8:45-9:00 – Rhythmic Acuity: Personal Development and Clinical Perspectives
  • 9:00-10:10 Hand Drum Sounds/Techniques and Introductory Bass-Tone Rhythms
  • 10:10-10:30 – break
  • 10:30-11:50 – Frame Drum Sounds/Techniques and Introductory Rhythms
  • 11:50-1:00- Lunch
  • 1:00-1:30 – Warm up: Rhythmic Grounds: Bass Drums, auxiliary percussion, body 
percussion, moving, speaking, and singing
  • 1:30-2:40 – Hand Drum Sounds/Techniques, bass/tone/slap rhythms and introduction to 
ensemble play
  • 2:40-3:00 break
  • 3:00-3:20 The Traditions of the tambourine: a demonstrated overview
  • 3:20-4:40 Frame Drum Sounds/Techniques and Middle Eastern ensemble play
  • 4:40-5:00 break
  • 5:00-5:30 Musical knowledge to music experiences: the creation of strategies
  • 5:30-7:00 dinner
  • 7:00-8:00 – Small group breakout: musical skill, leadership skill, and introduction to 
Grounding/improvisation tasks
  • 8:00-8:30 – Large Group: Questions and Cool Down

Day 3

  • 8:30-9:00 – Warm up: Grounds, instruments, movement, and songs
  • 9:00-10:00 – Ensemble experiences with all instrumentation
  • 10:00-10:10 – Demonstration – beginning/intermediate (level II) hand drum technique on conga / djembe
  • 10:20-10:40 break
  • 10:40-11:40 – Ensemble experiences with all instrumentation
  • 11:40-11:50 – Demonstration – beginning/intermediate (Level II) frame drum technique
  • 11:50-1:00 – Lunch
  • 1:00-2:40 – Developing your skill sets: Peer/Trainer support, peer evaluation, and trainer feedback
  • 2:40-3:00 – Ensemble and Improvisational Experiences: Clinical Application
  • 3:00-3:20 – break, CBMT event evaluations
  • 3:20-4:00 – Closing Session: Questions, CBMT Evaluations
